Metamorphosis

A professor emeritus, finds an every opportunity to buy sweets. Not to eat but, to distribute. The value for him was celebration and happiness.

Once i asked a friend, what is the top one criteria you look for when you want to change a job, his swift reply was “Money”. That’s what he valued for at that moment.

I know some people, who travel to India from Gulf almost on monthly basis. Their value is spending time with their kids.

In NLP, values are referred as criteria. “What’s important to you?

All our actions revolve around what’s important to us? Repeated actions turn in to habits and eventually a character. What’s important to us?… is always dynamic and contextual.

A person who started his career may value learning over money in first few years, money over relationship, relationship over career and eventually a risk free job over anything.

Imagine if a person is not flexible in his actions, with respect to his values and moves on to next best important thing, he or she will sooner or later will end up in overwhelming. If he has flexibility, yet abidance to his value system. He will have more room to grow over the other person.

For example, the value is to finish the task on time. Initial action can be doing it by ourselves and the revive action would be getting the job done by affiliates. This can be effectively achieved once we are clear on our job description.

Set of rules and regulations are always a result of one’s value system. Wherein, flexibility is what gives you a sustainable growth.

People and organizations who value their customers and came with more flexible options to reach out during this COVID-19 pandemonium are the one who are succeeding forefront. And the people who stuck with old system and not adopting needed flexibility are the one who laid back.

Are you flexible yet holding your values rooted from principles you believe in like that professor emeritus, friend and a loving father?
